On June 23, 2023, the Tiverton Town Council created the Tiverton North End and Industrial/Business Park Advisory Subcommittee (hereinafter referred to as the Subcommittee). The mandate of the Subcommittee, related to the north end, is to develop and recommend to the Tiverton Town Council an economic revitalization plan for Tiverton’s north end to ensure that development is carried out in a thoughtful planned way that helps keep Tiverton’s character while recognizing the rights of property owners to develop their land. The North End study area is defined as the portion of Tiverton north of Route 24 to the Fall River, MA border and from Mt. Hope Bay east to Fish Road (see Study Area Map here). The study area covers approximately 2.7 square miles, containing an approximate population of 8,000 people.
The primary focus of this project is to develop a revitalization and economic development plan that includes recommendations for streetscapes, building enhancements, accessible open space, pedestrian and bicycle amenities, public transit opportunities, increasing economic diversity, and generally improve the quality of life for residents, the economic climate for businesses, and the user experience for visitors from within and outside of town.
This project kicked off with the Tiverton Town Council Subcommittee on the Revitalization of North Tiverton (North Tiverton Committee for short) on September 11, 2024. The Project team toured North Tiverton on September 23, 2024. The project team toured North Tiverton on September 23, 2024 to document existing conditions. The North Tiverton Committee meets every other Wednesday at 7:00pm at Town Hall.
